Unmanned aerial target aircraft OT-1

A fully composite unmanned aerial target vehicle has been developed to ensure military “Stinger” system operators training. The aircraft is radar detectable and can carry IR signature increasing flares for locking-on of Stinger missiles (with heat seeking head). The aircraft can also carry the tow flare for live Stinger missile shooting without destroying the aircraft itself. It can be launched from special wheeled carriage (from runway or road), from car-top launch equipment or catapult. Normal landing is ensured by means of parachute (belly landing is also possible). The aircraft flight is fully automated with minimum of operator input normally required. It is equipped with navigation and position lights, therefore night operations are readily possible. Fail-safe feature include – automatic return to the launch point in case of telemetry failure; automated engine shutoff and parachute deployment in case of unplanned decrease of flight altitude (due to any kind of failure) beyond certain level (predetermined). The time needed to prepare the aircraft for the flight (assembly, fueling, preparations) is normally no longer than 15 min. Aircraft can be quickly assembled and disassembled in field conditions and disassembled is stored in the box which fits into normal car. The aircraft can be used for other purposes – like high speed reconnaissance, “killer drone” etc.
